CINCINNATI, Ohio - Senior B.J. Raymond scored 18 points on a blistering 7-for-8 from the field to lead the Xavier University men's basketball team past Toledo on Monday evening at Cintas Center. With the win, XU improves to 2-0 on the year while the Rockets slip to 0-2.

Toledo's Tyrone Kent was on fire, scoring 37 points on 11-of-21 shooting. He was also 5-of-11 from beyond the 3-point arc and a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. His 37 points established a new record for points by a visiting player. Delonte West's 35 point effort during the 2003-04 season marked the previous record.

Toldeo went toe-to-toe with XU early and tied the game at 15 after Justin Anyijong completed a personal 7-0 run with 7:45 remaining in the first half.

Xavier would heat up though and ended the first stanza on a game-changing 21-4 run to take a 36-19 lead into the locker room. Toledo was unable to cut the deficit to any less than 13 points even though Kent was burying shots from everywhere.

Junior forward Derrick Brown and sophomore guard Dante Jackson each scored 14 points for Xavier. Brown was 5-of-12 from the floor and snared a game-high eight rebounds. Jackson's 14 went along with four assists in 34 minutes of action.

Sophomore Jamel McLean and freshman Terrell Holloway each chipped in with nine points.

XU decimated Toledo on the boards, out-rebounding the Rockets by a 43-to-20 count. Xavier held a 16-to-7 advantage on the offensive glass and outscored Toledo 18-to-9 in second chance points. The Musketeers also shot a solid 49 percent (25-of-51) from the floor and held Toledo to 39.3 percent from the floor.

The Musketeers are back in action on Thursday, November 17 when the team travels to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off to take on Missouri. Game time is set for 1 p.m. EST and the contest will be televised nationally by ESPNU.
