CINCINNATI -Four Musketeers scored in double figures as Xavier defeated the Bellarmine Knights 76-73 Saturday, Nov. 5 at Cintas Center. Bellarmine proved to be a great test for Xavier, with the game going down right to the wire.

Tu Holloway lead the Musketeers down the stretch sinking four free throws to give Xavier the advantage. Holloway was a spotless 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. The senior would finish with 18 points off 5-of-9 shooting from the floor including 2-of-4 from behind the arc.

Mark Lyons lead Xavier with 20 points that included a perfect 2-of-2 performance from downtown (7-of-10 from the floor). Lyons added six dimes. Kenny Frease had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Musketeers opened the second half with two layups from Kenny Frease and a jumper from Jeff Robinson to take a 42-41 lead heading into the first media timeout. Xavier would then go on a six minute drought from the floor, but were able to utilize free throw shooting to stay within reach of the lead.

Lyons would get a trey at the 11:35 minute mark to bring Xavier within two, 53-51. Bellarmine made great shots from the floor to tie the game with under three minutes left to play. Xavier was able to seal up the victory with another three from Lyons and clutch free throw shooting from Holloway. The Knights cut the game to within one with four and a half seconds to play.

The Knights held the slight 39-36 advantage heading into intermission. Holloway and Frease led the way for the Musketeers in the first half with 10 points apiece. Frease scored 10 of XU's first 15 points going a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor over the first five minutes of the contest.

The Musketeers won the battle of the boards 28-25 while shooting 59.1 percent from the floor. The Knights were 25-of-53 from the floor for 47.2 percent. Bellarmine was active from downtown, putting up 29 shots to Xavier's 10.

Bellarmine was led by Braydon Hobbs who had a game-high 21 points off 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and 5-of-7 from three-point land.
