CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's basketball squad topped the Quincy Hawks 84-54 Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center. Four Musketeers scored in double figures to power their way past the Hawks.

Quincy jumped out to a 17-7 lead to start the game, but the Musketeers quickly responded. In a little under six minutes, the Musketeers went on an 18-0 run to take the lead. Xavier got four big points to keep a sizable lead with two breakaway dunks from sophomore Semaj Christon and senior  Landen Amos. Freshman Jalen Reynolds also contributed with a huge block in the paint to maintain a 13-point lead.

The Musketeers went into the locker room with a 40-30 halftime lead. At the half, Myles Davis led Xavier with 12 points, nine of which came from three-point shots. The Musketeers ended the first-half shooting 51.7 percent (15-of-29), while the Hawks shot 33.3 percent (11-of-33). Quincy shot 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from long range while XU only shot 33.3 percent (3-of-9).   

In the second half, Xavier continued to hold a sizable  lead over Quincy. Myles Davis weaved through the Quincy defense and threw a quick pass to junior Matt Stainbrook for a two-handed dunk. Xavier did not relinquish the lead in the second half, finishing with a field goal percentage of 56.9 percent (33-of-58) and a three-point percentage of 23.5 (4-of-17). Quincy shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) with a three-point percentage of 32 (8-of-25). The Musketeers won the rebounding battle over the Hawks, 44-30.

Stainbrook, Christon and Davis led the Musketeers to victory. Stainbrook made seven of his eight shots from the field to score 14 with nine rebounds. Christon had seven assists and five rebounds to go along with his 12 points, and made four of five from the charity stripe. Davis contributed in a big way, scoring 15, which included hitting three shots from beyond the arc. The freshman guard also added three assists and three rebounds.

Freshman Brandon Randolph was the fourth Musketeer with double figures as he added 11 points to go along with his four rebounds and two assists.

Jordan Wilson led the Hawks in points, scoring nine with four rebounds and three assists.

The Musketeers tip off their regular season Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:00 p.m. against Gardner-Webb at Cintas Center. The game will be broadcast on both 700 WLW and FS Ohio. Stay tuned to for the latest news and updates of men's basketball.
