  • Xavier and Ohio State - although just 100 miles apart - have not met since the first round of the 1984 NIT. That was a 60-57 win for Xavier in overtime. In fact, XU and OSU have met just four times ever. The first two meetings were Ohio State victories - 31-19 in the 1932-33 season and 31-28 in overtime the following season.

  • Xavier went to overtime for the first time this season and the first since last season's 73-71 home win over Cincinnati (1/19/06).

  • The last No. 9 upset of a No. 1 in the NCAA Tournament was UAB downing Kentucky in 2004 in Columbus, Ohio.

  • The Musketeers are 1-4 all-time when playing on St. Patrick's Day. The lone XU win came in the 1999 season - a 65-58 triumph over Princeton at the Cincinnati Gardens in the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament. Xavier's History when Playing on St. Patrick's Day:

  • Xavier is 3-2 in its last five match-up with the Associated Press No. 1-ranked team in the country. All-time, XU is 3-11 in those games.

  • Justin Cage's 25 points set a new career-high for the senior. It was the first 20-point game of his career. His 25 came on a perfect 8-for-8 performance from the field and 3-for-3 from three-point range - also career bests.

  • Xavier is now 23-6 when the opposition shoots less than 50 percent.

  • Drew Lavender had eight assists today and his 164 assists on the season is the most by a Musketeers since Michael Hawkins dropped 162 dimes in 1992. He turned the ball over just once today and had three steals.

  • Johnny Wolf's baseline jumper at the 10:18 of the first half, which gave XU its second lead at 10-9, was his first points since the Richmond game on 2/17.

  • Xavier is...3-2 in March...10-3 when playing on Saturdays...9-5 when three players score in double figures...6-2 when playing in the afternoon...14-3 when scoring in the 70's...3-4 when allowing the opponent to score in the 70's...10-2 when playing on national television...6-3 on a neutral court

  • XU's updated win-lose records in NCAA Tournament play: All Time: 12-18...Since seniors Doellman, Cage and Cole entered the program: 4-3...Since the 1990 season: 11-12...In the Second Round: 2-7...Versus a better seed: 7-14...Versus a 1-seed: 0-3...In Lexington, Ky.: 1-1

  • Including today's game versus Ohio State, the Musketeers are now 6-2 this season versus teams in the NCAA field. XU owns victories over BYU, Villanova, Virginia Commonwealth, Illinois, George Washington and Miami (Ohio), and was defeated by Creighton and Ohio State.

  • Justin Doellman extended the school record he set versus by BYU by playing in his 132nd game in an XU jersey. The previous record of 130 was held by Kevin Frey (1998-02) and Romain Sato (2000-04). Justin Cage has now played in 130.
