  • Xavier improves to 2-1 as a No. 9-seed in NCAA Tournament play. The Musketeers only other entry as a ninth-seed came in 1993 when XU beat New Orleans in the First Round, 73-55, before falling to No. 1 Indiana, 73-70, in round two. XU plays No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday at 1:10 p.m. ET in Lexington.

  • Xavier and Ohio State - although just 100 miles apart - have not met since the first round of the 1984 NIT. That was a 60-57 win for Xavier in overtime. In fact, XU and OSU have met just three times ever. The first two meetings were Ohio State victories - 31-19 in the 1932-33 season and 31-28 in overtime the following season.

  • The Xavier vs. Ohio State series:
    1932-33 Ohio State 31, Xavier 19

  • Tonight's game marked the first meeting between Xavier and BYU since the 1967-68 season. Entering the contest, BYU held a 2-0 lead in the series.

  • Tonight's game at University of Kentucky's Rupp Arena was just the fifth time the Musketeers played an NCAA Tournament game in an on-campus arena and their first win. XU was 0-4 previously in those games.

  • Including tonight's win over BYU, the Musketeers are now 6-1 this season versus teams in the NCAA field. XU owns victories over BYU, Villanova, Virginia Commonwealth, Illinois, George Washington and Miami (Ohio), and was defeated by Creighton.
