CINCINNATI- The Xavier men's basketball team captured a 72-63 win over Charlotte in its final home game. Senior Tu Holloway had a team-high 24 points off 7-of-12 shooting from the field. The Musketeers erased a 14-point deficit to grab the victory on Senior Day.

The Musketeers concluded the regular season with a 19-11 record overall and 10-6 in the Atlantic 10. Charlotte fell to 13-16 for the season and 5-11 in the conference.

The seniors shined on Senior Day at Cintas Center as Holloway hit several clutch shots in the tail end of the game and Kenny Frease recorded a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Andre Walker recorded six points, four boards, and a career-high four steals in his final home game.

This was Frease's fourth-consecutive game in double figures in scoring and his fourth double-double of the season. Freshman Dezmine Wells recorded a career-high five assists to go along with his six points. Mark Lyons was the third Musketeer to score in double digits with 11.

With 4:08 left in the second half, Holloway drove to the basket sinking the layup while getting fouled in the process. Holloway completed the old-fashioned three-point play to give the Musketeers a 65-61 lead. Minutes later Holloway dropped a long-range trey with only a second left on the shot clock to give XU the 70-61 lead. Holloway's three-pointer was the final nail in the coffin to seal the win for Xavier.

A 12-2 run by the Musketeers gave them a 42-41 lead over the 49ers, their first lead since the 17:48 mark of the first half. Charlotte was held without a field goal for over three and half at one point during the run and turned the ball over twice.

Xavier swatted away eight blocks which was one shy of tying a season-high. Lyons was responsible for three of the blocks, which tied his career-high. Xavier finished shooting 43.9 percent (25-of-57) to Charlotte's 40 percent (24-of-60).

Charlotte led at half 37-30 as Chris Braswell tallied 16 first half points. Holloway hit a buzzer-beating jumper to end the first half and cut the lead down to seven. Holloway finished the first half with 12 points.

The 49ers went on a 15-4 run and pulled out to a 34-21 lead with 3:07 left in the first half. The 49ers' largest lead in the first half was 14, with only 2:21 remaining.

Frease became the 50th member of the 1,000 point club with his layup to open the game. He continued his dominance in the paint by scoring the Musketeer's first five points and finished the first half with nine points and six rebounds.

The senior class scored the first 17 points of the game for the Musketeers. Frease picked up his sixth rebound off of a Lyons three-point miss. Frease powered his way to the basket making an off balance layup. This cut the lead down to 21-17 with 7:34 left in the first half.

Chris Braswell finished with a game-high 28 points for Charlotte.

Xavier heads to Atlantic City, N.J. to play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Friday March 9. Xavier earned the three seed and its opponent is still to be determined. Stay tuned to GoXavier.com for the latest news and updates of men's basketball.
