Xavier defeated the Memphis Tigers of Conference USA tonight, 64-62, snapping the Tigers' 18-game win streak. The loss was the Tigers' first road loss of the season, after seven-straight wins.

Memphis entered the game ranked 17th in the ESPN/USA TODAY coaches poll and #19 by the Associated Press. Xavier last defeated a nationally ranked team on November 28, 2011, in an 82-70 overtime victory at Vanderbilt, then ranked 20th.

Xavier extended its all-time record at Cintas Center to 172-24 (.878) over the nearly 13 seasons it has played at Cintas.

Travis Taylor led all scorers with 18 points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

Isaiah Philmore contributed 15 points and six rebounds. His 15 points fell one shy of his Xavier career high of 16 at Duquesne on February 9, 2013.

Geron Johnson led the Tigers with 14 points and seven rebounds. Trailing 41-31 with 12 minutes left in the game, Memphis scored eight-unanswered points to cut the lead to 41-39 at the 9:13 mark. Chris Crawford scored five points for Memphis and Geron Johnson three during the run.

Memphis scored only 20 points in the first half, its lowest output in any half this season. Its previous low was 22, twice, in the first half against Northern Iowa on November 24 and again in the first half at SMU on February 6.

Xavier held opponents to just 20 points in the first half two previous times this season, against Kent State on December 9 and against George Washington on January 12.

The Tigers free-throw percentage of .333 (6 for 18) was its poorest this season and the poorest by any Xavier opponent this season.

Xavier out-rebounded Memphis, 45-36, marking the 19th time this season and 15 of the last 17 games which XU hauled in more boards than its opponent. The Musketeers are the tenth team this season to out-rebound the Tigers.
