RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Tu Holloway made Xavier history while scoring a career-high 33 points, leading the Musketeers past the pesky Richmond Spiders, 85-62, Saturday afternoon at the Robins Center for its seventh-straight conference win.

Xavier (15-5, 7-0) shot 49.01% from the field and an amazing 96.70% from the free throw line. With the win, Xavier now leads the series, 11-5.

Richmond (16-6, 5-2) was 21-of-59 from the field for 35.06%. The Spiders shot 33.30% from three and 62.50% from the free throw line.

With his 33 points, Holloway became the 48th member of the Xavier 1,000-point club. Holloway drained his 1,000th at a place he is very comfortable at -- the free throw line. The junior guard was an unconscious 17-of-17 from the charity stripe, a career high.

Holloway unleashed his offensive side in the second half, exploding for 22 points. Holloway's previous career high of 31 came in the Paradise Jam vs. Iowa (11-19-10).

Junior Kenny Frease added 19 points off 8-of-10 shooting and grabbing six rebounds. Junior Mark Lyons added 14 points, off 4-of-12 shooting. Sophomore Jeff Robinson had a career-high seven rebounds to go with his four points. Senior Jamel McLean corralled 12 rebounds and scored seven points as he played his final game in his home state of Virginia.

The Musketeers took over the lead after tying the game 20-20 with 11:13 left in the first half. XU went on a 16-9 run to end the half.

The Musketeers led at intermission, 36-29, as Holloway put away a layup off the inbounds pass with less than a second left. Xavier shot 46.4% from the field, while Richmond shot 37.9%. The Spiders made six three-pointers in the first half, good for 42.9% while the Musketeers only connected on one trey in the half.

Holloway led the Musketeers in the first, going 7-of-7 from the free throw line for 11 points. Dan Geriot was the leading scorer in the first frame, going a perfect 3-of-3 from downtown.

Xavier is now 12-0 when scoring at least 70 points, 11-0 when leading at halftime and 12-0 when it outrebounds its opponents.

The Spiders were led by Justin Harper who scored 20 points off 7-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-5 from downtown.

Both coaching staffs were sporting sneakers as a part of the seventh annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, a collaborative initiative of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball.

The Musketeers travel to Charlotte for a midweek clash against 49ers. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Stay tuned to GoXavier.com for more information about Xavier men's hoops.
