PHILADELPHIA - The Xavier men's basketball team went scoreless over the final four minutes of the game allowing Saint Joseph's to deliver the Musketeers a 59-49 loss in front of a sold out Hagan Arena on Saturday night.

The Musketeers (11-8, 4-2 A-10) struggled to contain the Hawks' (11-7, 2-3 A-10) outside shooting as they dropped their second conference game in a row. Freshman Semaj Christon scored a game-high 16 points in the loss.

Senior Travis Taylor scored 10 points and eight points were added by senior Jeff Robinson and sophomore Justin Martin. Robinson recorded a career-high 10 rebounds, which included four offensive boards.

Xavier held the lead for the majority of the second half but saw the Hawks go on a 12-0 run to finish the game. The Musketeers held a 49-47 lead after Christon's final basket with 3:58 remaining in the half. The Hawks hit three 3-pointers including two from Langston Galloway who finished the game with five long-range baskets.

Trailing at the half the Musketeers mounted a 10-0 run that ended with a huge follow up dunk from Robinson. His put back gave Xavier a five-point lead, its biggest of the game. Saint Joseph's slowed the run and kept the game close with the teams finishing with five lead changes and five ties.

Christon tried to carry the Musketeers, scoring eight points in a mere three-minute range midway through the half, to keep Xavier ahead. The Musketeers, who were down by three to start the half, did not trail until the final push by the Hawks at the end of the game.

Xavier finished the game shooting 34.4 percent (21-of-61) and struggled to find its game from outside. The Musketeers hit only one 3-pointer in the game on 13 attempts (7.7 percent).

Galloway, along with Halil Kanacevic and Carl Jones, had 15 points for the Hawks who finished 19-of-53 from the floor (35.8 percent) and cashed in on 41.7 percent (10-of-24) shots from behind the arc.

The Musketeers outscored the Hawks in the paint, 34-14, but were outscored 15-4 off turnovers.

Saint Joseph's led 30-26 at halftime thanks to a strong shooting performance from outside. Robinson was the Xavier's leading force in the period scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds. Taylor and Davis both contributed five and four points came from Christon and Martin.

The Musketeers finished the half shooting 35.5 percent (11-of-31) from the floor in the period with Davis providing the only 3-pointer. In comparison Saint Joseph's converted on 44 percent (11-of-25) that included six treys on 13 attempts (46.2 percent).

Xavier's biggest lead of the half came on an alley oop from Christon to Robinson with just under 12 minutes remaining. The lead was quickly erased as the Hawks' Langston Galloway paced a 15-5 run with three-straight 3-pointeres.

Christon scored four straight after the Hawks built a seven-point lead to keep Xavier close. Shortly before half the Hawks jumped out to their biggest lead but the Musketeers closed the half with four points.

Head coach Chris Mack and his assistants along with the coaching staff from Saint Joseph's sported white tennis shoes in support of Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend. Mack's shoes will be signed and auctioned off on GoXavier.com
