CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Xavier dropped its first Atlantic 10 conference game with a 63-57 defeat at Charlotte. The loss drops Xavier to 11-7 overall, while the 49ers improve to 16-3 this season. Both teams are tied at 4-1 in conference action.

Semaj Christon and Travis Taylor led the Musketeers with 18 points apiece. Taylor finished the game with 11 boards, giving him his sixth double-double of the season.

Xavier was limited to 37 percent shooting (25-of-67) and Charlotte knocked down 50 percent (22-of-44) of its shots. The battle of the boards was won by Xavier, 44-33. XU was whistled for 27 fouls that led to 24 free throws for Charlotte, which the 49ers connected on 14. By contrast, Xavier shot only nine free throws in the game.

The Musketeers will travel to Philadelphia for their second-straight A-10 road game when Saint Joseph's hosts Xavier at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. CBS Sports Network will televise the game, while 700 WLW will carry the radio broadcast.
