Jordan Crawford recorded the first double-double of his career to lead Xavier (13-6, 5-1 Atlantic 10) to a 72-61 come-from-behind win against Rhode Island (15-3, 3-2 A-10). Crawford scored 21 points to lead the Musketeer attack. Jamel McLean scored 16 points, Terrell Holloway added 12 points, and Jason Love chipped in 10 points. With tonight’s win, Xavier extended its home winning streak to 19 games, the seventh-longest home court winning streak in the country. The 19-game streak is the longest by any XU squad since Cintas Center opened for the 2000-01 season. Now in its 10th season playing its home games at Cintas Center, XU is 130-17 (.884) overall at its on-campus arena.

XU improved to 65-10 (.867) against Atlantic 10 competition at Cintas Center. The Musketeers have won 27 consecutive Atlantic 10 games at Cintas Center, which is the second-longest streak in A-10 history.

Xavier is 12-2 this season when it scores at least 70 points, with its only blemishes being the 96-92 double-overtime setback at Wake Forest and the 77-72 loss at Temple.

Through six Atlantic 10 Conference games, Xavier has held opponents to just 20.8 percent shooting (22-for-106) from behind the three-point arc. Conversely, the Musketeers are shooting 40.0 percent (46-for-115) from behind the arc in conference play.

XU held Rhode Island to a season-low 61 points. The Rams’ previous low was 63 in a 63-59 win against Oklahoma State (1-2-10).

This was the first game XU did not hit a three-pointer in the first half (0-for-3) since going 0-for-4 against Duke in the first half of their game last season (12-20-08)

Jordan Crawford registered his first career double-double with 21 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

Jordan Crawford grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds. His previous high at XU was seven boards, which he accomplished four times, most recently at George Washington (1-10-10). His collegiate career high was nine rebounds, which he accomplished at Penn State (3-9-08) when he was a freshman at Indiana. He also had an XU  career high six assists. His previous high was five assists against Bowling Green (11-17-09). His collegiate career high is seven assists against Ohio State (2-26-08).

Trailing 35-28 at 17:57, XU went on a 10-0 run to take a 38-35 lead at 16:23. Jordan Crawford scored 8 points during the spurt, including a pair of three-pointers. He also had three rebounds and an assist on Xavier’s only other basket.

Up Next: Xavier welcomes the Duquesne Dukes to Cintas Center Thursday, January 28, for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. XU leads the series with Duquesne, 25-17, however the teams have split the last four meetings, with each team has winning on its home court. Last year, the ninth-ranked Musketeers were upset by the Dukes in Pittsburgh, 72-68. XU fell behind 45-30 in the first half, thanks to a blistering shooting performance by Duquesne, which connected on 81 percent (17-of-21) of its first half field goal attempts, including 8-of-11 from behind the three-point arc. The Musketeers closed to within five points, 62-57, with 4:20 remaining, but struggled from the free throw line down the stretch. B.J. Raymond paced XU with 18 points, while Terrell Holloway added 16.
