CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Musketeers, led by sophomore Jordan Crawford, defeated their Atlantic 10 conference opponent University of Rhode Island by a score of 72-61 at Cintas Center Saturday evening. With the win, Xavier moves to 13-6 on the season and 5-1 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Rams fall to 15-3 and 3-2 in conference.

It was a tale of two halves. Rhode Island got out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first two minutes of the competition. XU managed to keep things close in the first half, tying the score on three occasions and getting within one numerous times. The Rams finished the half up by a score of 29-26.

The tide turned in the second half with the Muskies going on a 10-2 run heading into the first media timeout. The Rams tied the game with 13 minutes left, but the Muskies made big shots and got back the lead.

Sophomore Kenny Frease fouled out of the game with 11 minutes in the game, but XU battled through adversity and maintained their lead.

Jordan Crawford had his first career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. He additionally dished out six assists. He had two clutch three-pointers to tie the game and give Xavier the lead in the start of the second half, which got the Cintas Center rocking.

Jamel McLean had an outstanding game, providing a spark off the bench. He ended the game with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Terrell Holloway was Mr. Consistent from the line again, going 6-of-7. He scored a total of 12 points and had four assists. Senior Jason Love contributed 10 points (5-of-7) to the affair and six rebounds.

Xavier shot uncharacteristically from downtown in the first half going 0-for-3. Sparked by Jordan Crawford, the Muskies made four treys in the second half.

The Muskies outrebounded Rhode Island by a mark of 39-29.

The Rams shot 40.7 percent from the field and 60 percent from the charity stripe. Keith Cothran and Lamonte Ulmer led the team with 12 points each.
