CINCINNATI - The men's basketball team dominated their way to a 71-56 victory over conference foe George Washington Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center. Senior Brad Redford and freshman Semaj Christon each dropped a game-high 21 points.  

Xavier is now 9-6 and 2-0 in the Atlantic 10 while George Washington drops to 7-8 for the season and 1-1 in the conference. The Musketeers leads the all-time series 27-9 including eight straight wins over the Colonials. Xavier is 87-11 all-time in A-10 games at Cintas Center and an amazing 49-1 over the last six seasons.

With 5:12 left in the second half Redford hit his fifth three pointer of the game to give the Musketeers 57-46 lead. Redford set a career high with seven three pointers made and set a new career-high with his 21 points. Redford logged a season-high 33 minutes on the court.

Travis Taylor pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with his six points and a career-high six assists. Christon has led the team in scoring seven times this season while Taylor has had a team-high in rebounds 11 times this season and six times in the last seven games.

Christon dished out a game-high seven assists. Jeff Robinson ended with 12 points from 6-of-9 shooting from the field and five rebounds in the Musketeers' winning effort.

XU shot 57.1 percent for the game while GW fired only 38.6 percent. Xavier shot a season-high 80 percent (8-of-10) from long range and held George Washington to 30.8 percent (4-of-13). The Musketeers muscled their way to 33 rebounds and 24 defensive boards while limiting the Colonials to only 28 rebounds.  

Taylor pulled down eight rebounds and tallied four points to give the Musketeers a 35-20 advantage at half time. Xavier finished the half on a 7-0 run lasting 2:13. Seven different players contributed points in the first half and was lead by Redford with nine.

An emphatic dunk by Robinson and a three pointer by Redford sparked a 7-0 run to open the game for the Musketeers. Redford made his first start of the season and fifth of his career, ended with first half shooting 3-of-4 from long range. Robinson shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field at half time.

XU outshot and outrebounded the Colonials in the first half shooting 59.3 percent to 33.3 percent and pulled in 22 rebounds to six GW rebounds. The Musketeers had seven offensive rebounds in the first half which lead to six second chance points.

Lasan Kromah of George Washington had a team-high 12 points and pulled in four rebounds and two assists. Isaiah Armwood, the Colonials' leading scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker was held to a season-low six points, six rebounds, and two blocks after fouling out for the first time all season.
