CINCINNATI - The junior tandem of C.J. Anderson and B.J. Raymond each scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Xavier University men's basketball team past St. Bonaventure by an 83-68 score on Wednesday evening at Cintas Center.  With the win, XU improves to 13-3 on the year and 1-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.  The Bonnies slip to 6-9 overall, 0-1 in the loop.

Anderson's career best came on 9-of-13 shooting and Cincinnati native also notched his first career double-double with 11 rebounds.  Raymond had a rock-solid all around night, connecting on 7-of-14 from the field and 5-of-10 from long range.  He also dished-out three assists and blocked a shot.

Senior guard Drew Lavender scored nine points while dishing-out five assists against only one turnover.  Senior's Stanley Burrell and Josh Duncan each chipped in with eight points and Burrell also dropped five dimes and turned the ball over only one time.

The Bonnies shrunk their 44-30 halftime deficit to seven points, 53-46, after Zarryon Fereti nailed his fifth 3-pointer of the night with 13:20 remaining in regulation.  That long-ball capped a 10-2 SBU run over a 3:50 stretch.

Xavier would answer though and went on a game-changing 21-5 run over the next 6:10 to put the game away.  Anderson put an exclamation point on the end of the run by scoring seven unanswered points in a 40-second stretch.

St. Bonaventure was unable to mount another serious threat and Xavier cruised to the 83-68 win.

Xavier turned the ball over eight times in the first half but was more careful in the second half, turning the ball over only twice in the second stanza.  The Musketeers shot 50.0 percent on Wednesday and out-rebounded the Bonnies 34-to-29.

XU stormed out of the gate and seized a 9-0 lead at the 17:10 mark after Burrell buried a 3-pointer.  The Musketeers would ease off the pedal a bit over the next 11:10 and allowed the Bonnies to pull to within five points, 24-19, with 6:30 remaining when D'Lancy Carter hit a jumper.

However, Xavier took control of the game by ending the half on a decisive 20-10 run.  The run was keyed by two of Raymond's three first-half 3-pointers and four points from sophomore center Jason Love.

XU continued its 3-point shooting barrage by going 7-of-14 from deep in the first half.

The Musketeers will look for their sixth-straight win when they welcome Fordham to Cintas Center on Saturday.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. and the contest will be televised by CSTV and broadcasted regionally by FSN Ohio.
