Ty Sampson is in his second year with the men's basketball team working as a graduate program assistant. Sampson came to Xavier after graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois in May, 2013 with a degree in finance.

Sampson's primary responsibilities include assisting in the program's video operations: including film breakdown, coordinating film exchange, creating team highlight videos, advance scouting of opponents, and helping Xavier players with individual film needs. Sampson, 22, also assists the coaching staff in limited on-court activities during practice, advance scouting, on-campus recruiting, and team academics. In addition, to his basketball duties, he is also pursuing his master's degree in business administration.

While at the University of Illinois, Sampson served as a student program assistant for the men's basketball program. Working under Bruce Weber, the current head coach at Kansas State University, for two seasons, and under former XU assistant John Groce, last season, Sampson was essential to the program's video operations. His main responsibilities included: the making of team highlight videos, advance scouting of opponents, film breakdown, coordinating film exchange, creating scouting edits for the coaches and team, and assisting Illinois players with individual film needs.Having contributed to the program greatly for two years, Sampson was elevated to the position of Co-Video Coordinator during his senior season with the program.

During his tenure at Illinois, Sampson was a part of the 2012 Maui Invitational Championship team and made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament two out of his three seasons.

Sampson was born November 7, 1990 in Thousand Oaks, California.
