AS A MUSKETEER...2004-05 team co-captain...sat out the 2003-04 season after his transfer from Vanderbilt... battled a case of chronic tendinitis in his lower left leg as a junior and missed a few starts...was back in the starting lineup for the last eight games.
THORNTON BATTLED THROUGH HIS FIRST SEASON AT XAVIER...was second on the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg.), first in field goal percent (.596) and fourth in scoring (10.7 ppg.)...scored in double figures 16 times as a junior, including four of the last six games...recorded five "double-doubles" in scoring-rebounding this season, including 10 points and 12 rebounds at La Salle on February 27...led XU with 17 points and 11 rebounds at Miami, while hitting 8-of-10 from the field; was named Orange Bowl Classic Game MVP by the media...had 17 points and seven rebounds in the win over Iowa State, while hitting 6-of-7 from the field.
THORNTON BROKE OUT IN WIN OVER GW...hit 7-of-11 from the field en route to a collegiate career-high 25 points against George Washington on February 23, while earning himself his first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honors...broke his Xavier career high (19 twice this season) and his collegiate career high (23), which he set at Auburn as a Vanderbilt sophomore in the 2002-03 season...also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds against GW. Thornton followed up the GW game with 10 points and 12 rebounds at La Salle on February 27 and 10 points and three rebounds at Richmond on March 2 despite playing only 18 minutes due to foul trouble.
2002-03 SEASON AT VANDERBILT...played in all 29 games, starting 24 times...led the Commodores in rebounding at 5.7 rpg. and was second in scoring at 11.5 ppg...scored at least 20 points on five different occasions, including 23 at Auburn and 20 at Michigan...scored in double figures 15 times...team finished 11-18 under head coach Kevin Stallings.
2001-02 SEASON AT VANDERBILT...named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team...played in all 32 games, starting 16 times...averaged 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds...scored a season-high 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds, in a win over Kentucky...team finished 17-15 under head coach Kevin Stallings and advanced to the second round of the postseason NIT.
AT DUPONT MANUAL HIGH SCHOOL...a Second Team All-State (Louisville Courier-Journal)...averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks per game as a senior...the school record-holder for blocked shots and is also in the top three in career scoring and rebounding...two-time All-State...two-time All-Region...two-time All-District... played in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Game played at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis...also lettered in football... basketball coach: Geoff Lamb.
