Erik Stenger

Erik Stenger is featured in this segment of Meet the Musketeer presented by Kroger.

AS A MUSKETEER: Will practice with the team this season and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2012-13 season...played against Xavier in exhibition games in each of his two seasons at NKU.

MACK ON STENGER: "Erik is an excellent athlete. This year is going to be a huge learning experience for him, the adjustment from (NCAA) Division II to Division I basketball and getting a better feel for the game at this level. As I watched him early on in workouts, it's apparent that he has the athleticism, but he has to match it with the skill level that's needed. I think he'll be a high energy player and certainly a guy that will push our players in practice. Who knows where that leads to in his own playing time as his career develops."

AS A SOPHOMORE AT NKU IN 2010-11: Played in 28 games, starting 20 times for head coach Dave Bezold...scored in double figures in eight games, including a career-high 15 at Indianapolis on Feb. 17...grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds vs. Missouri-St. Louis...NKU was 21-9 last season.

AS A FRESHMAN AT NKU IN 2009-10: Saw action in 30 games...averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game...scored 10 points in a victory against Christian Brothers in the championship game of the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic on Nov. 21...was named the John L. Griffin Hustle Award recipient for that tournament...NKU was 17-13 in 2009-10.

ST. XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Cincinnati St. Xavier High School...averaged 17.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest as a senior and helped the Bombers repeat as district champions...named to the Associated Press All-Southwest Ohio First Team...received special mention Division I All-State accolades...named St. Xavier's most valuable player...earned First Team All-Greater Catholic League South honors as a senior...basketball coach: Scott Martin.

PERSONAL: A finance major...born on Jan. 28, 1991 in Cincinnati...son of Mark and Lori Stenger.
