NATIONAL HONORS...named by Seth Davis (Sports Illustrated and CBS) as the Captain of his ninth annual "All-Glue" Team an column... National All-Defensive First Team ( and National Defensive All-America Team ( analyst Jay Bilas had him among his six National Defensive Player of the Year candidates...there's more on page 4 of the notes about Burrell's defensive prowess...his hustle play and block in the Richmond game made "Gym Gems" for ESPN's "Midnight Madness" show.

HONOR ROLL CONTINUES...2007-08 Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year...Xavier has had two players earn that award previously and both are NBA standouts: James Posey in 1998-99 and David West in 2001-02...also an A-10 All-Defensive Team member and Third Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, his second straight year as an Atlantic 10 Third Team pick by the A-10 coaches...2005-06 Atlantic 10 Second Team...2004-05 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team...earned a spot on the 2005 A-10 All-Championship Team.

2007-08...had 125 career starts at Xavier, including 58 straight...hit 82.3 percent (102-of-124) from the free throw line, which ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10...earned a lot of praise for his defense but was still a key offensive threat as well at 9.7 ppg., including a game-high 16 points in the home win over Saint Joseph's...had 13 points in the Dayton win at Cintas Center and eight points and five assists in the win at UD Arena..his efforts on both ends of the court in the Dayton wins earned him the Blackburn/McCafferty Game MVP award for both wins, although he shared it with Josh Duncan for the game at UD...scored in double figures in 19 games...had 13 in the A-10 Quarterfinal win over Dayton...had a team-high 18 against Tennessee while holding UT star Chris Lofton to 3-of-12 shooting and just nine points...ranked second on the team and eighth in the Atlantic 10 in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.67-to-1.00...second on the team in assists at 3.8 apg., which ranked seventh in the Atlantic 10...had a career-high 12 assists against Duquesne...dished a then career-high eight assists to go with 12 points against Kansas State and had a team-high 15 points to go with five assists against Virginia.

1,000 POINT CLUB RECORD-SETTER...scored 1,612 career points, which has him in 12th place on XU's all-time scoring list...played in 132 games, which tied the school record of 132 which was first set by former teammate Justin Doellman (132 from 2003-07).'s second-leading scorer at 12.4 ppg., including a game-high 18 points in the A-10 regular season title clinching win at La Salle...hit 79.0 percent (10th in the A-10) from the free throw 23 double-figure scoring games...five three-pointers on his way to 25 points against Charlotte...second on the team in assists at 2.4 apg., including seven against Alabama...a game-high tying 21 points versus Temple and 23 points in the win over Kansas State...scored a game-high 26 points in the Villanova win...2006 Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team (U.S. Virgin Islands).

2005-06...2005-06 Second Team All-Atlantic 10...first on the team in scoring for the second straight season at 14.4 ppg. (13th in the Atlantic 10)...had nine 20-point games...scored in double figures 28 times...led the team in assists with 105 (14th in the A-10 at 3.3 per game).

AS A FRESHMAN...2004-05 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team...led Xavier in scoring at 12.7 ppg., only the third Xavier freshman ever to accomplish that feat...hit 10-of-13 from the field en route to a career-high 32 points at Duquesne.

AT HARGRAVE MILITARY ACADEMY...he spent the 2003-04 season at Hargrave, the same prep school that produced 2003 XU graduate and National Player of the Year David coach: Kevin Keatts.
