Motivational Video Leads To Friendship

After seeing an inspirational video of Gabe Puthoff's only basket in organized basketball, Xavier's Landen Amos struck up a friendship with the youngster stricken with Spina Bifida. Gabe's father Dan and Landen spoke to about the friendship. The video concludes with Landen and Gabe interviewing one another.

2014-15: Plans to return for the 2014-15 season and use his final season of eligibility.

2013-14: Began the season as a third-year walk-on but has earned a scholarship for the 2014 spring semester ... Was sidelined the first 10 games of this season following knee surgery but returned to action vs. Cincinnati on Dec. 14, logging two minutes ... Played two minutes at Creighton but did not play after Jan. 20 at DePaul.

AS A SOPHOMORE AND JUNIOR: Saw increasing time in his first two seasons as a walk-on and defensive specialist ... Played in 23 games as a junior, although he missed five games late in the season due to injury ... Averaged 7.6 minutes per game in the 2012-13 season, including 10.3 minutes per games in Atlantic 10 action ... Scored the first field goal of his collegiate career with a fast-break dunk late in the Fordham game on Feb. 13 ... Grabbed a career-high five rebounds to go with his career-high five points vs. the Rams ... A valuable defensive player off the bench ... Blocked the potential game-tying basket at the end of the St. Bonaventure win on Jan. 16 ... Logged a career-high 21 minutes against George Washington and grabbed three rebounds on Jan. 12 ... Logged 16 minutes in the Temple win on Jan. 10, grabbing a then career-high four rebounds and blocking a shot ... Had a couple big defensive plays at the end of the Purdue game ... Appeared in six games as a sophomore in the 2011-12 season.

CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL: Earned two varsity letters in basketball while earning the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 followed by Most Improved Player award in 2010...also earned two letters in football, including a senior season as a wide receiver that earned him some college football offers at the FCS and Div.
