CINCINNATI - Danny Rosenbaum, who pitched for Xavier from 2008-09, was taken by the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball's Rule 5 Draft Thursday morning. Rosenbaum was drafted as the 652nd pick in 2009 by the Washington Nationals and remained a member of the organization until being taken third in the Rule 5 Draft by the Rockies.

The local product from Loveland, Ohio (Loveland HS) led Xavier in strikeouts both seasons on campus, finishing with 82 k's in 2008 and 77 in 2009. Rosenbaum's 159-career strikeouts rank 10th all-time in program history.

Because Rosenbaum was selected in the Rule 5 Draft, he is automatically placed on Colorado's 40-man roster. Rosenbaum is the second pitcher to join the Rockies this season. Seth Willoughby was taken in the MLB First-Year Player Draft in June with the 138th selection in the fourth round.
