CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball head coach Scott Googins has added Brad Kirschner to the 2013 recruiting class, which already features four standouts. Kirschner joins Ethan Schmidt, Trent Astle, Joe Gellenbeck and Jason Hall as future Musketeers.

A native of Ripley, Ohio, Kirschner brings a talented left-handed arm to Xavier's pitching corps. He was named the Southwest Ohio League MVP and Hillsboro MVP following the 2012 season. Kirschner has also earned SWOL All-Conference First Team and Team MVP honors all three seasons as a member of the Ripley Union Lewis Huntington High School team.

"Brad gives us another really good lefty in this class," said head coach Scott Googins. "He has a good fastball and a breaking ball that should work right away. On top of his 'stuff,' the biggest asset he brings is his competitiveness."

Xavier opens the 2013 season with a three-game series at the College of Charleston during the weekend of Feb. 15-17.
