Baseball's Blue/White Series Tied, 1-1, After Two Games

CINCINNATI - In the Xavier baseball team's annual Blue\White scrimmage, the two squads have tied the series at one game apiece after completing a rain-shorten game one and playing game two as well on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Team took game one, 7-1, while the White Team won game two, 15-5.

In the first game, Blue's junior Phil Bauer tallied three hits while senior Neil Lindgren had two hits and two RBI. Freshman Patrick Paligraf also had two hits and sophomore RHP Nathan Mutsch got the win for the Blue Team after four innings pitched and giving up one run on two hits.

In game two of the series, the White Team exploded for 13 runs in the first inning. Freshman Jonathan Richard got the win on the mound for White after tossing four scoreless innings, giving up only two hits while striking out one. Junior John McCambridge score three runs for the White Team and senior Drew Schmidt went 2-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs as well.

Junior Ryan Bellamy was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs while senior Zac Richard knocked out a two-run shot for the White Team for two of his four RBI. For the Blue Team in game two, Lindgren went 2-for-4 with a double and senior Ben Thomas was also 2-for-4 with a home run. Freshman Seth Dawes recorded two hits in the contest as well, one of which was a double.



Next weekend the series will wrap up with games on Friday and Saturday. Start times are set for 2:30 on Oct. 16 and noon on Oct. 17.
