CINCINNATI - Former Xavier standout pitcher Charlie Leesman made his major-league debut for the Chicago White Sox in the nightcap of a doubleheader with the Minnesota Twins.

Despite taking a no-decision in the contest, Leesman worked five innings allowing just one run. He struck out eight Twins and walked just five, while surrendering one run on four hits.

A native of Cincinnati (Elder HS), Leesman was a standout pitcher for the Musketeers before being selected by the White Sox in the 11th round of the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. He posted a 2-6 record as Xavier's number one pitcher in 2008 and has steadily climbed throughout the minor leagues during his professional career.
