CINCINNATI - Two Xavier University baseball players will be making their Minor League Baseball debuts possibly within the week after joining their new teams as soon as tomorrow. Junior left-handed pitcher Danny Rosenbaum, who was selected by the Washington Nationals as the 652nd pick in the 2009 first-year player draft, has signed with the organization and senior catcher Billy O'Conner has been picked up by the Texas Rangers.

Rosenbaum, a Loveland, Ohio, native, led Xavier in strikeouts for two consecutive seasons and moved into the top ten in Xavier program history with 159 K's over his two years as a Musketeer. He made 16 appearances for XU in 2009, starting 15 times, and tossed a career-high 88.2 innings. Rosenbaum will be assigned the to Nationals' rookie affiliate, the GCL Nationals, in Viera, Fla., a member of the Gulf Coast League. Click here for more info on the GCL Nationals.

O'Conner, a Cincinnati native and 2009 team co-captain, finished the year with a .333 average, 72 hits, 39 RBI and 22 stolen bases. He was picked up by the Rangers and signed as an undrafted free agent. O'Conner will be assigned to the organization's rookie team as well, the AZL Rangers, based in Surprise, Ariz., and member of the Arizona League. Click here for more info on the AZL Rangers.
