Xavier Game Notes - Week 13
CINCINNATI - Xavier and Massachusetts will meet at Hayden Field for a three-game series with Atlantic 10 Conference Championships implications on the line. Prior to Sunday's contests, nine Musketeers will be honored for their playing careers at XU.
Xavier (24-23, 11-4 A-10) is currently tied-fifth in the conference standings and is fighting for one of seven spots in the championship, which set to be held at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., beginning Wednesday, May 22.

Musketeers Roll Minutemen 7-0, Sweep Series
The Xavier baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Massachusetts with a 7-0 win Sunday afternoon at Earl Lorden Field. With the win, Xavier improved to 21-18 overall and an even 6-6 in the Atlantic 10.
Massachussetts (11-28, 4-14) sits in next to last place in the standings and is looking to spoil Xavier's run at the making the tournament.
Friday's series opening contest will start at 3 p.m. and Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. A brief ceremony for the seniors will begin approximately 15 minutes before Sunday's noon matchup. Sunday's game will also be broadcast on GoXavier.com.
Nine Musketeers will be honored prior to the start of Sunday's noon contest with the Minutemen for their careers at Xavier, Seth Dawes, Mark Elwell, Tyler Koors, Jarred Marks, Patrick Paligraf, Jon Richard, Daniel Rod, Stephen Schoettmer and Alex Vice.
Last A-10 Home Contests
This weekend's home series against Massachusetts will mark the final three home games in any sport for Xavier as a member of the Atlantic 10. Xavier baseball has enjoyed success within the A-10 over the years, amassing a 227-181 record in the league.
The A-10 Championships, which are seven-team double elimination, are six games away. Currently, the top seven teams are Saint Louis (13-5), Charlotte (13-5), La Salle (13-5), Rhode Island (12-6), Richmond (11-7), St. Joe's (11-7) and Xavier (11-7). Two other teams, Butler and George Washington, sit at 10-8, just one game out. XU will close the regular season at Butler next weekend.
Xavier dropped two of three at Saint Joseph's over the weekend, losing games one and three, but winning Saturday's game. XU fell 2-1 to open the series, but rebounded with a 6-4 victory on Saturday. St. Joe's then closed the series with a 2-0 shutout.
Last Meeting - Massachusetts
The last time XU and UMass met came in 2011 and the Musketeers walked away with a three game sweep. Xavier won 8-7, 9-2 and 7-0 in the series. Current Musketeers Markus Kuykendoll, Jon Richard and Vinny Nittoli picked up victories in the three games.
