Musketeers Travel To La Salle For Crucial A-10 Series

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Xavier baseball team will be looking to make a final push to seal a place in the Atlantic 10 tournament as the Musketeers travel to La Salle for a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m.

The Musketeers (22-24, 8-7 A-10) currently sit in seventh place in the conference after taking two games of a three-game series against Fordham last weekend at Hayden Field.

Junior Mark Elwell leads the Musketeers in batting average (.313) and RBI (21) while hitting in the eight slot most of the season. Junior Daniel Rod has seen his batting average rise to .293 after coming off of a huge week against Cincinnati and Fordham. Rod sits in second place on the team with 10 doubles.

Sophomore right handed pitcher Vinny Nittoli is scheduled to start Friday's contest. The Gibsonia, Pa., native is looking to improve on his 3-4 record. Juniors Jon Richard (4-4) and Tyler Koors (1-5) are slated to take the hill Saturday and Sunday respectively.

La Salle (17-26, 4-11 A-10) will throw two lefties at the Musketeers on Friday and Saturday. Eric Van Wyk takes his 3-6 record and 3.98 ERA to the hill Friday while Ryan Donahue will look to improve on his 1-3 record on Saturday. Right hander Kevin Christy (1-3) is slated to start Sunday's contest.

Saturday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and Sunday's finale is slated for 12 p.m. Live stat links are available at GoXavier.com.
