CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball will host Rhode Island for three games at Hayden Field this weekend in Atlantic 10 Conference action. The Musketeers enter at 21-18 overall and 8-4 in the conference, just one game behind the Rams. URI holds a 24-17 record, including a 9-3 mark in the A-10.

In the Last Week...
Xavier defeated Charlotte, 5-3, in the opening game of the weekend series before dropping the final two contests, 8-7 and 3-2, respectively. The Musketeers slide continued with a 9-0 defeat to Bowling Green on Tuesday.

Last Meeting - Rhode Island
Rhode Island won last season's series, 2-1, over Xavier in Kingstown, R.I. The Musketeers won Saturday's contest, 14-5, but lost the opening and closing games, 9-7 and 9-5, respectively.

Hitting the Mark
Senior Mark Elwell has been a steady presence at the plate for Xavier this season. Elwell leads the team and ranks fourth in the A-10 with a .370 batting average. XU's leadoff batter has scored a team-high 30 runs, 10th most in the conference, and holds a .463 OBP, ranking sixth in the A-10.

Sit `Em Down
Not only is Jon Richard moving up the career-innings pitched list, but the senior is also climbing XU's career-strikeouts chart. Richard has fanned 197 batters in his career, sixth most in XU's annals. Jeff Barger sits in fifth with a 203 Ks (1998-01).

Xavier Vs. The A-10
In Atlantic 10 Conference action, Xavier is batting .345 and averaging 8.2 runs per game. Four Musketeers, Selby Chidemo (.425), Daniel Rizzie (.423) and Vinny Nittoli (.410), have batting averages in the .400s in conference play. In conference only games, XU leads the A-10 in six major categories: batting average (.345), slugging (.466), OBP (.411), runs (98), hits (154) and RBIs (92).
