CINCINNATI - Xavier starting pitcher Scott Klever was named BIG EAST and National Pitcher of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com for his efforts on Saturday in the win over Villanova. This is the second weekly honor won by Klever after being awarded BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week by the conference on Monday.
Klever pitched a complete game at home against Villanova, keeping the Wildcats off the board and giving the Musketeers the victory, 5-0. He allowed just two hits and a walk in his start on Saturday.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native carries a 5-3 record and boasts a 3.50 ERA over a team-high 61.2 innings pitched.
Xavier heads across town to take on Cincinnati Tuesday night for a 6:30 p.m. start. Klever and the Musketeers continue their quest to stay undefeated in BIG EAST play when they travel to Butler Thursday for a three-game series.
