Dawes Blasts First Career Homer In 5-2 Loss To Wright State
A three-run home run by Wright State's Tristan Moore in the seventh inning proved to be the deciding factor as the Raiders defeated Xavier 5-2 in non-conference action Tuesday at Hayden Field. With the loss, Xavier fell to 11-17 on the season while Wright State improved to 16-10.

Xavier went 4-1 in the last week, picking up a win against Miami (Ohio) and a series sweep of Evansville. Jon Richard
moved into a tie for fourth on XU's career innings pitched records list in Xavier's 9-7 win at UE on Friday. Alex Vice
registered a save in all three games, while Stephen Schoettmer
(15) and Joe Forney
(10) extended their hitting streaks.
Last Meeting - Wright State
XU and WSU met once last season, with the Musketeers suffering a 2-5 setback at home. Seth Dawes hit his first career home run in the loss. The two teams were scheduled to meet earlier this season, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Power of Hayden Field
In just seven games at Xavier's home field, Hayden Field, the Musketeers are hitting the laces off of the ball. As a team, XU is batting .398 with a slugging percentage of .545 and OBP of .455. Xavier is averaging 10.1 rpg at Hayden, while hitting four home runs, 12 doubles and a triple.
Daniel Rod has spent much of the season as a late-inning defensive replacement in the outfield, but earned a start in center field on Sunday at Evansville and made the most of the opportunity. Rod's seventh inning three-run blast to left field propelled Xavier ahead, 4-2. XU went on to win the game, 4-3, thanks to Rod's homer.
Schoettmer's On Target
Third baseman Stephen Schoettmer is in the midst of a 15-game hitting streak. During the streak, the senior is batting .407 with 21 RBIs, 10 runs scored, six doubles and two triples. Schoettmer has four triples on the season, ranking 20th in the nation.
Put `Em In The "Vice" Grip
Redshirt senior Alex Vice has made 13 appearances so far this season, picking up five saves and holding a paltry 1.08 ERA. Vice successfully saved all three of XU's game against Evansville, registering more strikeouts (4) than walks and hits combined (3). He got his first win of the season in relief in XU's 4-3 walk-off win versus Dayton.
