Klever Gets Recognized By The BIG EAST For His Complete Effort

CINCINNATI - Senior pitcher Scott Klever was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week by the conference Monday afternoon. The Cincinnati, Ohio native earned his first major conference award of the 2013-14 season after his performance last Saturday.
Klever went all nine innings in a shutout victory against Villanova Saturday afternoon at Hayden Field. He held the Wildcats to just two hits and one walk in his first career complete game.
The senior is 5-3 on the year and leads the team with 61.2 innings pitched through nine starts for the Musketeers.
Brian Bruening joins Klever on the list of weekly award conference winners from the BIG EAST. Bruening made the weekly honor roll after leading the Musketeers to a sweep of Villanova, recording six hits, one inside-the-park home run, seven RBIs and five runs
Bruening and Xavier are in action Tuesday when they travel to Cincinnati for a 6:30 p.m. start. Klever will be back on the mound this weekend when the Musketeers take on Butler on the road.
