Rizzie and Forney carry the hot bats into midweek action for the Joe Nuxhall Classic

CINCINNATI - Xavier's starting first baseman Joe Forney was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com and sophomore Daniel Rizzie earned a spot on the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll for their offensive efforts over the weekend in Georgetown.

The Musketeers enjoyed the hot bats this weekend, outscoring Georgetown, 34-14, in the three victories. Forney and Rizzie led Xavier (16-13, 3-0 BIG EAST) to a sweep of the Hoyas in XU's inaugural BIG EAST series.

Forney had multi-hit games and recorded one double in all three contests this weekend. For the series, the junior went 7-for-15, scored three runs, drove in five runners, added three doubles and stole two bases. Forney closed out the weekend with a 3-for-5 performance, one run scored and four RBIs in the series finale.

RIzzie had two three-hit games and drove in a total of four runs over the weekend. The sophomore ended the series going 7-for-15 with five runs, four RBIs and two walks. Sunday's contest saw Rizzie cross the plate three times on three hits and one walk.

Forney, Rizzie and the Musketeers travel to Hayden Park in Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami (Ohio) Tuesday night in the Joe Nuxhall Classic. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. with live statistics and subscription-based video provided by www.muredhawks.com.
