CINCINNATI - The Xavier University baseball team returns home following a nine-game road swing to host Wright State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Hayden Field on XU's campus.
Xavier (13-13) enters the game after going 2-7 on the road trip, picking up wins against Illinois and Butler. The Musketeers faced a tough trip on the road, playing at Ohio State, Illinois, No. 17 Kentucky and No. 10 Louisville. The friendly confines of Hayden Field are a welcome sight for Xavier, which is 3-1 at home this season.
Derek Hasenbeck is leading XU at the plate, batting .318 with 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Jake Forrester has earned a spot in the starting lineup after hitting .355 with seven runs scored in 12 games played.
Wright State enters the matchup at 14-12 (8-0 Horizon) and 4-6 in road games. WSU is coming off of a 10-4 loss to Toledo on Tuesday afternoon. Brad Macciocchi is batting .324 for the Raiders and has scored a team-best 18 runs. Sean Murphy brings a .303 batting average and team-high 20 RBIs into the game.
