CINCINNATI - The BIG EAST Conference has named Xavier pitcher Adam Hall its Pitcher of the Week following his second-straight win to open the season. Hall put together a strong performance in Xavier's win over No. 12 North Carolina to win the award.
A native of Dublin, Ohio (Dublin Coffman), Hall worked six innings of one-run baseball to lead the Musketeers past the nationally-ranked Tar Heels. He held UNC to four hits and a pair of walks. The win was also XU's fourth-straight to open the season, its longest streak to open a season since the 1979 squad went 5-0.
Hall is now a perfect 2-0 on the season and sports a slim 1.50 ERA. Opponents are only batting .150 off of the sophomore right-hander.
This marks the second-consecutive week that Xavier won one of the BIG EAST's two main weekly awards. Freshman Andre Jernigan was tabbed Player of the Week on Feb. 17 after hitting .545 to help Xavier to a 3-0 start in the opening weekend.
Xavier will play three games in Clarksville, Tenn., this weekend against Dayton, Bradley and Austin Peay.
