WASHINGTON, D.C. - With a 13-3 win over Atlantic 10 foe George Washington, the Xavier baseball team recorded its 30th win of the season, tying the program's third-best win total. This is the first time XU has tallied 30 victories since the 1997 squad tied the school record for wins (32). The Musketeers collected 14 hits on the day as five players had multiple-hit games.

Senior Jordan Conley was an incredible 4-for-4 at the plate with a sacrifice fly, three RBI and a run scored. Senior Steve Brown banged out his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning.

Xavier (30-17, 16-8 A-10) scored eight runs through the first four innings, including a five-run fourth, to jump out early on the Colonials. Junior Bobby Freking's two-RBI single plated junior Drew Schmidt and sophomore Ben Thomas for two of the five runs.

George Washington (20-31, 9-14 A-10) gave up three more runs to XU in seventh before getting on the board in the bottom of thr eighth. Zebroski and Rockey got on base with a single and a walk to set up a three-run bomb to center field by Reeves as the score set at 11-3 in favor of Xavier.

In the top of the ninth, the Musketeers tallied two more as senior Sean Farrell reached on a Colonial error and pinch hitter senior Jack Bonnikson took a base on balls. Conley singled in Farrell and Freking's double plated Bonnikson to mark the final tally at 13-3.

Thomas (3-1) recorded the win for the Musketeers after throwing a career-high 7.2 innings. He fanned a career-high tying seven batters while walking two and gave up three runs on eight hits. Senior Brett Greenwell closed out the game for XU, throwing 1.1 innings. He struck out two and walked one.



Lucas (1-5) took the loss for the Colonials as he tossed 3.2 innings. He struck out one and walked four while giving up eight runs on six hits.

The Musketeers return to action on Tuesday, May 12, with a midweek tilt at Indiana State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
