Tres Eberhardt doubled twice and scored three runs in XU's 12-3 win over Dayton on Friday afternoon.

CINCINNATI - Xavier cranked out 20 hits on its way to a 12-3 rout of rival Dayton on Friday afternoon in front of a full capacity at Hayden Field. Jake Forrester, Stephen Schoettmer and Selby Chidemo each drove in two RBIs to help Xavier improve to 12-14 overall, including 5-2 in the Atlantic 10. Dayton dropped to 7-17-1 and 2-5 in the A-10.
After giving up one run on three hits in the first inning, Xavier starting pitcher Jon Richard locked in and sat down ten Flyers in row. Dayton only tallied one more run off of Richard, who finished with seven strikeouts and zero walks in six innings of work.
Meanwhile, the Musketeers' bats came alive, belting out 20 hits and scoring 12 runs. Patrick Paligraf and Tres Eberhard each went 3-for-4 at the plate. Paligraf drove in one RBI, giving him nine RBIs in the last three games. Starting at designated hitter, Eberhardt made the most of his opportunity and scored three times.
Forester, Schoettmer and Chidemo all connected on a pair of hits to lead a Xavier squad that posted six doubles and a triple. Nittoli and Eberhardt both had two doubles in the victory.
Daniel Przeniczny worked the final three innings to pick up his first save of the season for XU. The right-handed reliever allowed one unearned run off of four hits. Przeniczny struck out three Flyers and walked two.
Dayton's Parker Schrage took the loss, falling to 1-5 on the season. Schrage allowed eight runs, four earned, on eight hits. Dayton scored its three runs on 10 hits, but UD was charged with five errors in the contest.
The two teams will square off on Saturday afternoon in a 1 p.m. contest at Hayden Field. Live stats for the game will be available on GoXavier.com.
