CINCINNATI - Multi-hit games by Xavier's top of the order batters Tres Eberhardt, Joe Forney and Derek Hasenbeck helped XU secure its third-straight victory with a win at home against Ohio, 14-0.

Xavier (11-6) opened up the scoring early by taking advantage of a throwing error in the first inning by Ohio (4-13), bringing home Eberhardt to take the lead. Forney went home two batters later and Hasenbeck scored on a wild pitch to give XU a three-run lead, 3-0.

Eberhardt came through again in the second inning with a double down the left field line, scoring Stephen Schoettmer from third. The Musketeers tallied one more in the fifth before putting the game away in the sixth with a five-run inning that featured RBI singles by David Morton, Forney and Hasenbeck to extend the lead to 10.

XU added insurance runs with two-run homers in the seventh by Chase Puente and eighth from Jake Forrester to give Xavier the victory at Hayden Field, 14-0.

Eberhardt continued his hot streak with two hits, two walks, two RBIs and three runs. The senior infielder extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Hasenbeck went 2-for-5, scoring two runs and driving in two. Forney finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Morton, making his first collegiate start, finished with a run and an RBI at the plate, but made three diving catches in center field to preserve the XU lead.

Eric Stiene (1-0, 0.00 ERA) earned the victory in his first collegiate start after going six strong innings without surrendering a run. The righty carried a perfect game into the sixth inning before giving up a two-out hit to Ty Black. An inning of work by Sean Campbell, Markus Kuykendoll and Jason Hall each closed the game for Xavier.

Gerry Salisbury (0-3) took the loss for Ohio after only pitching one inning and allowing four runs.
