Hasenbeck put the Musketeers on the board in the top of the second inning with a two-RBI double to left that plated Seth Dawes and Willoughby.
Xavier added three more runs in the top of the fifth thanks to an infield RBI single by Elwell that plated Patrick Paligraf, a Daniel Rod RBI single that brought Hasebeck home, and an RBI single by Willoughby that brought Elwell home and extended the XU lead to 5-0.
The Tar Heels cut the XU lead to 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh but a two-run eighth that featured RBI hits from Hasenbeck and freshman Joe Forney gave XU a 7-4 lead. XU added three more in the top of the ninth and Willoughby's solid relief sealed the XU win.
