CINCINNATI - The Xavier cross country teams return to the course on Sunday for the NCAA Pre-National Invitational being hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.

This year's meet attracts 35 teams and 354 athletes for the men's 8-kilometer run beginning at 11 a.m. ET and 40 teams and 387 athletes for the women's 5-kilometer run starting at 11:40 a.m.

Six of the top 30 USTFCCCA nationally ranked men's teams and four of the top 30 nationally ranked women's teams will compete at the event, which is held on the same course as the NCAA Championship on Nov. 21.

Senior Caylin Howell has been the top runner for Xavier this season who has finished no worse than fourth as a team in any of their four races. Two weeks ago Howell led the Musketeers at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship with an 18th-place finish.

Sophomore Tom Ohlman leads the men's squad after taking the 14th spot at the All-Ohio meet. He has finished as the top Musketeer runner twice this season.

Both teams have a maximum field of 12 runners competing. The remaining runners will be competing at Friday night's Wilmington College Fall Classic.
