Cross Country Team Storms Past Competition
TIFFIN, Ohio---All five members of the Xavier women's cross country team finished in the Top 6 on Saturday, led by Kerry Hils (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) who finished first in the Heidelberg Invitational. The men's team also ran well in placing second.
The women's team scored the victory over seven teams with 17 points. Hils led the way finishing with a time of 18:43.3. Teammates Jennie Illig (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) and Jennifer Andrassy (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat) followed Hils to the finish line. Illig was second with a time of 19:18.7, while Andrassy finished in 19:24.2 to earn third. Sophomore Molly Krumpelbeck (Cincinnati/Seton) finished with a time of 20:01.3, good for fifth place. Sarah Rodenbeck (Cincinnati/Mercy) ran to a sixth place finish. The men's team finished in second place out of seven teams. Freshman Drew LaMaster (Prospect, Ky./South Oldham) was the men's top performer, running to a fourth place finish with a time of 26:50.0. Josh Masters (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) paced himself to place ninth and Patrick Rischmann (Cincinnati/LaSalle) finished tenth with a time of 27:07.3. Sophomore Mike Doran (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) finished with a time of 27:19.2, fast enough to claim 11th place. Chris Tieke (Cincinnati/Glen Este) concluded the scoring for the team with a 16th place finish. Xavier races next Friday in Daytona Beach, Fla., at the Stetson University Invitational.
