Musketeers Improve At All-Ohio Championships


DELAWARE, Ohio - The Xavier men's and women's cross country teams improved on their results from last year's All-Ohio Championships as they placed 11th and 17th respectively at this year's event held at Methodist Theological School.

Last year, the XU men's team placed 13th out of 30 teams while the women were 20th in a 39 team field.

Sophomore Drew LaMaster was the top Musketeer finisher placing 15th out of 243 runners in the men's field. LaMaster completed the course in 26:41.1, which was 52 seconds behind Kent State's Matt Cornwell who won the individual championship in a time of 25:49.4.

Junior Dan Cihal and sophomore Paul Staudigel were the next Musketeers to finish in 54th and 60th place respectively.

The duo was followed by junior Chris Tieke (76th place), seniors Tyler Cross (97th place), Matt Graham (118th place) and Greg Dickman (148th place) for XU.

The Xavier women were led by the senior tandem of Jennie Illig and Molly Krumpelbeck who placed 59th and 61st respectively. Illig completed the race in 19:52.2 while Krumpelbeck finished in 19:53.5.

Junior Kristin Hoff was next across the line for XU in 99th place followed by freshman Kelly Sraj (110th place), senior Patty Green (115th place), junoir Jamie Wyckoff (141st place) and freshman Megan Uhl (149th place).

Xavier will next travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the Duquesne Invitational on Friday, October 17.
