CINCINNATI- Xavier men’s and women’s cross country is set to compete in the 31st annual Queen City Invitational this weekend at Mount Airy Forest here in Cincinnati. The Musketeers have taken home the Traveling Trophy each of the past two seasons.

Last year, the women’s team placed first behind strong running from junior Ashley Vincent, who placed 2nd overall, followed by her teammates senior Calesse Cardosi, junior Anna Ahlrichs, and juniors Abby Fischer and Clare Fischer, each finishing in the top fifteen. The men’s team finished second at last year’s meet led by junior Tom Ohlman who placed 3rd overall leading all Musketeer men.

This will be the second meet of the season for Xavier, but the first for many of the participants. The men’s side will run eleven of its members including the five runners who placed first through fifth in last week’s Mount St. Joseph Invitational: juniors Spencer Liechty and Chris Hanson, sophomores Corey Zielinski and Matt Orlando, and freshman Austin Winter. In addition to those five will be Ohlman, seniors Hank Geer and Ben Foley, juniors Keith Schenkel and Nick Kobunski, and sophomore Connor Buchholz. The women’s side of eleven also includes the five runners who finished second through sixth last week at Heritage Park: junior Madison Riethman, sophomores Emily Kuhn and Carrie Kurish, and freshmen Emily Wolery and Victoria Ciotti. Cardosi and fellow senior Kaitlin Price, Fischer and junior Jessica Albers, sophomore Audrey Ramos, and freshman Sarah Mazzei are the remaining participants for the women.

Xavier will be defending their trophy against fifteen other schools this weekend. The men’s 5K starts things off Friday, September 7th at 5 p.m. with the women’s 5K following soon after at 5:45 p.m.
