Aug. 30, 2005
CINCINNATI - Xavier University head cross country coach Steve Nester has announced the field for the Second Annual Xavier Invitational slated for Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio at 11:00 a.m.
Joining Nester's Musketeers in this year's event will be the men's and women's teams from Capital, Ohio, Ohio State and Rio Grande.
"We are excited about increasing the number of teams competing in this year's event including the addition of a nationally ranked program in Ohio State," said Nester. "The Xavier Invitational will feature a number of student-athletes from the Southwest Ohio area and will be an excellent opportunity to watch them compete."
In the inaugural Xavier Invitational, the Musketeers finished first in the three-team event as XU topped Capital and Wright State. Paul Staudigel led the way for the men with a third place finish in a time of 15:58 while Amanda Brown turned in the top finish on the women's side as she finished second in 18:59.
Xavier will open the 2005 campaign on Saturday, September 3, as the Musketeers travel to Kettering, Ohio for the Flyer 5K Challenge. In addition to the host Flyers, the Flyer 5K Challenge will feature Cincinnati, Miami and Wright State.
