Kelly Sraj Shatters Xavier 5000 Meter Record
LOUISVILLE, Ky.---On Friday, the Xavier University men’s and women’s track teams competed in the University of Louisville Cardinal Open in Louisville, Kentucky. Kelly Sraj broke the 5000 meter school record by over 29 seconds in finishing with a time of 18:20.86. The previous 5000 meter school record was previously set by Molly Krumpelbeck during the 2001 track season.
On the men’s side, the Musketeers ran strong in the events they competed in. In the 1500 meter run, Mike Hammersmith was the first finisher for Xavier (4:11.79) followed shortly after by Dan Cihal who ran a 4:13.51. Jeff Dorr ran 4:14.41 and teammate Ryan Schutte finished with a 4:25.57. Dan Dalic ran a 4:28.67. In the 5000 meter run seeded race, Drew LaMaster led Xavier in breaking the school record he previously set with a time of 15:29.65. Matt Graham and Paul Staudigel finished with times of 15:39.66 and 16:11.78 respectively. Graham’s time was the fourth fastest by an individual in school history. In the un-seeded 5000 meter run, Greg Dickman ran a 16:21.01. Chris Tieke was the lone runner in the 3000 meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:04.04. Greg Reichert posted a 2:04.46 in the 800 meter run. On the women’s side of the Cardinal Open, Megan Uhl posted a 2:28.17 in the 800 meter run. Jennifer Lemon finished with a 5:49.70 in the 1500 meter run. In the 5000 meter run seeded race, Kristin Hoff posted a personal best 19:06.29. In the un-seeded race, Sarah Rodenbeck finished with a 20:18.43. Xavier will close out the season on Saturday at the Wilmington Invitational. Please click Xavier Track Records for updated statistics.
