Xavier Cross Country Finishes 24th at NCAA Great Lakes Regional

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's cross country teams finished off their 2006 season with 24th place finishes at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional held at the Forrest Creason Golf Course in Bowling Green Ohio. For the second consecutive year sophomore Luke Beuerlein led the men's side while sophomore Becky Clark paced the women.

The men's team ran a powerful race while Luke Beuerlein led the Musketeers finishing 104th in field of 209 in 33:42.28. Junior Ben Milroy and freshman Drew Kaiser came in 130th and 139th, respectively, in 34:19.07 and 34:31.90. Clinton Womack claimed the No.4 position turning in a time of 34:51.61. Rounding out the men's squad was Tony Matheus finishing 158th in 34:54.98.

Becky Clark led the women's side finishing 80th in a field of 209 at 23:03.50, cutting three seconds off her NCAA time from last year. Senior Kelly Sraj recorded an 89th place finish in a time of 23:11.45 while Amanda Brown finished in 117th in 23:39.50. Danielle Meiners completed the race in 133rd in 23:56.13. Ashley Stick rounded out the women's squad in 164th at 24:36.27.

 

 

The men completed the season with a 44-97 record while posting an 7-12 mark against the Atlantic 10 while the women compiled a 78-69 record while going 17-3 against the Atlantic 10. This marked the first ever losing season by Coach Nester. Out of nineteen seasons coached, eighteen have been winning.
