Xavier Women Finish 18th at NCAA Great Lakes Regional

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's cross country teams competed today at the 2007 NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The women's squad finished 18th in a field of 30 marking the best Xavier finish ever at the NCAA Regionals and establishing a 106-39 (17-2 A-10) record. The men's side took 21st which is the third best finish in school history improving their record to 76-56 (8-11 A-10).

The women were led by freshman Christina Schneider whose 28th place finish in a time of 21:54.28 was the best since Kerry Hill's 25th place finish in 2001. Junior Becky Clark finished 55th at 22:30.77 in a field of 215. Senior Amanda Brown was the next Musketeer to cross the finish line in 23:31.47. Senior Caitlin Shagena and sophomore Bethany Moore rounded out the women's squad in times of 23:34.65 and 23:40.90, respectively.

Senior Ben Milroy led the men's squad finishing 82nd at 32:58.18 in a field of 204. Following Milroy was junior Clinton Womack who recorded a time of 33:26.32. The third Muskie to cross the line was freshman Tommy Kauffmann finishing in 34:15.14. Freshman Sam Lewis and senior Matthew Weingardt rounded out the men's side turning in times of 34:52:54 and 35:07.28, respectively.

Xavier would like to thank and congratulate seniors Amanda Brown, Caitlin Shagena, Ben Milroy, and Matthew Weingardt who completed their collegiate careers as cross country runners today.
