CINCINNATI- The Xavier men and women's cross country teams are back home in the Queen City after participating in the Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday at Belmont Plateau in Fairmont Park in Philadelphia, Pa. Juniors Tom Ohlman and Clare Fischer won Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors as well as top-10 finishes for the Musketeers. The women placed 5th overall while the men took 10th.

The women started things off in Philadelphia and in the Atlantic 10 championship season. Junior Clare Fischer was the top finisher for the Musketeers as she placed 9th overall with a time of 18:05.4 in the 5K, earning her another spot on a Xavier record list as she is now the 10th fastest in Xavier history. Saturday was Fischer's 3rd top-10 finish of the season. The top 5 Musketeer women finished under the 19-minute mark with four juniors included. Abby Fischer was 29th with a time of 18:44.8. Jessica Albers placed 34th with a time of 18:53.4 and classmate Anna Ahlrichs was not far behind in 36th with a time of 18:55.0, her best time of the year. With a time of 18:58.1, sophomore Chelsea Hoffmaster placed 42nd, keeping the top-5 Musketeers just 25 points out of 3rd place. Other Musketeer finishers were sophomore Audrey Ramos (80th) with a time of 19:37.2, seniors Kaitlin Price (86th) with a time of 19:45.1 and Calesse Cardosi (93rd) with a time of 19:53.4. Freshmen Victoria Ciotti and Sarah Mazzei finished (115th and 116th) had times of 22:44.5 and 22:49.1, respectively, in their first A-10 Championships of their Xavier career.



The men were led by Tom Ohlman who ran a time of 25:53.2 to secure 4th overall and yet again snagged a top-10 finish of his second career all-conference season, his fifth this season. Second place for the Musketeers saw a new face as senior Ben Foley fought his way to the finish line past a Flyer of Dayton and two Hawks of St. Joseph's to finish 39th with a time of 26:42.3. Senior captain Hank Geer finished 47th with a time of 26:47.1 while junior Spencer Liechty broke into the top-5 for the third straight race placing 71st with a time of 27:24.0. Rounding out the top five was freshman Austin Winter in his first A-10 championship finishing 91st with a time of 27:51.3. The rest of the men's side included sophomore Connor Buchholz, who was alongside Winter for the majority of the race, finished right behind him in 92nd with a time of 27:55.2, classmate sophomore Corey Zielinski who finished with a time of 28:06.6 and placing 102nd, and juniors Chris Hanson (109th) with a time of 28:21.8, Keith Schenkel (111th) with a time of 28:23.8, and Nick Kobunski (118th) with a time of 28:40.1.

The Musketeers hit the road again in two weeks with eight runners a side as the travel to Madison, Wisconsin to partake in NCAA Regionals. For official results for both the men's and women's race, visit the links at the top of the page.
