Xavier Women Take First at Hatter Invitational

Results

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's cross country teams had impressive performances today at the Hatter Invitational. The women finished first in a field of 17 while the men took runner-up honors against 14 teams. The women are now 78-25 while the men established a 60-29 record.

Senior standout Ben Milroy won his first collegiate meet finishing in what is believed to be a course record at 25:48. Following Milroy were juniors Clint Womack and Luke Beuerlein in 26:27 and 26:33, respectively. Rounding out the men's squad was freshman Tommy Kauffmann and sophomore Drew Kaiser in 27:20 and 27:32. Solid finishes also came from senior Matt Weingardt and freshman Tyler Fry running in 27:46 and 27:58, respectively.

Freshman Christina Schneider led the Musketeers for the second consecutive meet. Schneider finished second overall in a field of 158 in 18:21. Finishing third was junior Becky Clark in 18:29. Seniors Amanda Brown and Caitlin Shagena finished 11th and 14th in 19:23 and 19:35, respectively. Rounding out the women's side was sophomore Bethany Moore finishing 15th in 19:37. Freshman Caitlin Thomas and sophomore Kelsey Flaherty also had concrete finishes in 19:42 and 19:55, respectively.

XU will return to action in two weeks when they compete for the Atlantic 10 Championship Title on Oct. 27 in Philadelphia Penn. The meet is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
