Senior David Gibson will look to soar 7.30-meters this Friday to give himself a shot to compete at the NCAA East Regionals on May 23rd and 24th in Greensboro, North Carolina.

CINCINNATI- The Xavier track and field teams will a couple of athletes to the Cardinal Twilight Meet in Louisville, Kentucky this Friday. The meet will serve as a final opportunity for athletes to have a shot to make it to the NCAA Regionals.
The upperclassmen will take their spot in the spotlight this weekend in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA East Regionals which will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina on May 23rd and 24th. Senior captain Rachel Clark will compete in the 1500-meter as well as the 800-meter races while juniors Clare Fischer and twin sister Abby Fischer will compete in the 5,000-meter run. Junior Madison Riethman will look to capitalize on fresh legs and put up a strong performance in the 800-meter run alongside Clark as both look to continue their breakout seasons.
Junior captain Tom Ohlman will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday as well as the 5,000-meter run along with senior captain Hank Geer. Senior David Gibson will look to continue his recent tear in the long jump on Friday with a goal of exceeding 7.30-meters that would put him in the top 48 of the East region and see him compete in Greensboro in a couple weeks. Gibson along with Ohlman are coming of school-record performances last weekend at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships with Gibson placing third in the long jump with a distance of 7.24-meters (23'9") and Ohlman finishing fourth in the steeplechase with a record time of 9:02.40.
