Two Runners Looking To Improve Times At Louisville Meet
May 10, 2012
CINCINNATI - Two runners from the Xavier track and field women's team will be competing on Friday at the Cardinal Twilight in Louisville with the hope of lowering their qualifying times for the upcoming NCAA East Regional.
Sophomore Abby Fischer will participate in 5,000-meter run and junior Rachel Clark will race in the 1,500-meter run. To be considered for the regional championship runners must have one of the top 48 times among athletes declaring for the event.
Fischer currently has a time of 17:22.14 in the 5K run, which is ranked 213th in the east regional this year. Her personal-best time came at the All-Ohio Championship on April 21.
Clark will be running in the same event that she capture a bronze medal in last weekend at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Clark's time of 4:27.44 is a school record and places her 109th in the east regional qualifying field.
The 1,500-meter run takes place early during the meet's rolling schedule that begins after 6 p.m. The 5K will be the last event to take place.
