CINCINNATI - Members of the Xavier track and field team are headed west this weekend to compete in the 38th annual Stanford Invitational, one of the largest and most competitive outdoor meets of the outdoor season.
The Musketeers will take a select group of qualifiers that includes senior Nick Williams and sophomore Tom Ohlman from the men's team and sophomores Ashley Vincent and Clare Fischer, junior Rachel Clark, and seniors Brittani Peltz, Caylin Howell, and Emily Tyler from the women's team.
Both Williams and Clark are scheduled to compete in more than one race for the Musketeers this weekend. The majority of will be held throughout the day on Friday.
Xavier comes into the prestigious meet following last weekend's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati. Williams won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes and Vincent set a new school record and won the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Last year then-senior Tommy Kauffmann was the only runner to travel to this event where he competed in the men's 10,000-meter run. Kauffmann set a new school record at the event and qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championship at the meet.
